Video footage of Lewis Hamilton offering to lift Charles Leclerc up and him refusing has gone viral after the F1 Bahrain Grand Prix 2022
Given the ending of the 2021 Formula One season, the F2 campaign was a much awaited one. The controversial season ending Abu Dhabi GP where Max Verstappen was crowned the drivers’ champion meant the stakes were always going to be massively escalated come the ongoing season.

And the Bahrain Grand Prix season opener didn’t disappoint either with us in for a humbdinger of a spectacle. As both the Red Bull’s dropped off in the tailend of the race, Lewis Hamilton ended up not only taking an unlikely third place but also saw Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc end up as winner on the night.
Repassing Max Verstappen into Turn 4 on consecutive laps after the first round of stops set the tone for Leclerc’s win on the day with him perfectly restarting out of the final corner to ease of Verstappen slipstreaming him towards Turn 1.
“I definitely feel much grown as a driver compared to my [victories] in 2019. Today everything felt a bit more under control,” Leclerc said after the win.
And as he got on to celebrate his podium, Leclerc was offered to be lifted up to soak in the celebrations by Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton. Video footage of the moment has since gone viral with people impressed by the manner in which the Brit was quick to acknowledge how impressive the Ferrari man was on the day.
