And the winner of the prize for the finest weather report of 2022 is a man who isn’t even a weather reporter but a sport one with the video of Mark Woodley of KWWL viral
Mark Woodley typically covers sports for KWWL-TV in Iowa, but due to the cancellation of all local athletic events and the impending arrival of a significant winter storm, the news program’s producers decided that Woodley could temporarily fill in as a weather reporter.
KWWL Iowa Sports Reporter Mark Woodley Video Reporting During Snowstorm Goes Viral
What happened in the Live telecast of KWWL-TV?
Mark Woodley is demonstrating to news viewers what happens when you call the sports reporter to come in to cover a blizzard in the morning show.
The KWWL sports anchor became well-known when his live coverage of the blizzard-like conditions in Waterloo, Iowa, received over two million views on Twitter thanks to his open admissions about spending last Thursday outside in the minus 40-degree cold.
“This programme is really lengthy. Watch me gradually become more irritable over the course of the next few hours by tuning in,” He made a joke on air. What better time, he asked the viewers, “to urge the sports person to come in approximately five hours earlier than he would typically wake up and go stand out in the wind, the snow, and the cold and tell other people not to do the same.”
“I didn’t know there was a 3:30 also in the morning,” he said, “until today.” He mentioned that his co-worker Clint received a promotion as the programme went on “the better end” of the storm-chasing assignment and informed the audience that he had both good and bad news.
The video goes viral in no time.
The news network probably thought it was a wonderful idea, but Woodley was obviously unimpressed. The compilation below includes various clips of Mark complaining about his new job assignment. And the remarks he makes about his new job are just amusing. It didn’t take long for the video to become widely shared on social media after it was made available.

In the icy winter, everyone seemed to be paying attention to Woodley’s bleak weather forecast. He spent most of Thursday’s early morning reporting on the weather, but it was his reporting that won him over new admirers like Judd Apatow, David Cross, and NFL Network anchor Rich Eisen. People in the surrounding Iowa region also gave Woodley some appreciation.
Here are reactions from others to Woodley’s spectacular weather report.
Proud of this TV work that just showed into my timeline. Well played, Mark. https://t.co/Zpb4MUfFu2

Big mistake, Woodley. You shouldn’t have been so good at this.

More meteorologists need to take a page from your book and tell it like it is. Thanks for the honesty and snark.
