Following an unfortunate crash in the second-round of the MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Car Racing Championship at the Madras International Circuit, India’s well-known racing veteran KE Kumar has passed away. During Sunday morning’s saloon car race, this crash occurred as Kumar’s vehicle collided with one of the rivals.
After ramming into a fence, the car rolled over the track and came to rest on the roof. Following the accident, the competition was stopped right away with the signal of red flag. Immediately after a quick inspection at the track’s medical center, Kumar was freed from the rubble and transported into an ambulance before being sent to a local hospital.
How has racing community offered their tributes to KE Kumar?
Despite the best efforts from the doctors, KE Kumar couldn’t be saved and hence, the 59-year-old racer was declared dead much to the sorrow of racing fans across the country. Following Kumar’s death, competition chief Vicky Chandhok expressed his tributes to the seasoned racer and assured that FMSCI & MMSC have launched an investigation to this case so that such accidents will be avoided in the future.
Owing to the unfortunate demise of MMSC life member KE Kumar, the rest of the day’s events were cancelled. Additionally after this saddening event, the racing community has come forward to offer their tributes in respect of Kumar.
