Cristiano Ronaldo who was benched for Chelsea vs Manchester United was greeted by the home fans who decided to boo him as he was substituted
As Michael Carrick got ready to take charge of only his second and final match as Manchester United manager, he decided he didn’t want Cristiano Ronaldo in his gameplan. When Carrick took his team to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea, he left Ronaldo out of the playing 11, a move which left many perplexed.
Carrick spoke about his decision, citing it to be one taken out of a need to keep things fresh on the night. He even spoke about Ronaldo having been informed of it prior to the contest, a move which ultimately worked in the club’s favour as Manchester United scored through Jadon Sancho in the second half to take the lead.

Ronaldo’s arrival as a substitute meanwhile failed to work in his side’s favour with Chelsea soon restoring parity as Jorginho slotted home his penalty. The encounter ended 1-1 at the end of the night with Ronaldo receiving a yellow card as well in his cameo.
