On Saturday, Telangana police detained a number of students for reportedly ragging another student in an IBS College dorm room. Assault on life charges has also been filed against students.

At first glance, the entire incident appears to be a case of ragging, but on Saturday, November 12, 2022, a video that showed Himank Bansal, a student at the ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education (IFHE) in Hyderabad, being beaten up by other students and forced to chant “Allahu Akbar,” went viral on social media.
A number of students are seen beating up and threatening Bansal in the widely circulated video on social media. This incident happened inside a college hostel room. After the victim went to the police and said that 15 to 20 people were harassing him in his dorm room on campus, a case was initiated.
Since then, many prominent Hindu organizations and prominent ring-wing politicians as well as several well-known faces from academic circles of the country raised their voices against this heinous incident.
While many other people, on the other hand, accused another side to communalize the incident. The matter has become a hot topic of discussion with many people trying to find out more about it. So, let’s find out everything about it:
Why Is Himank Bansal Beaten Up?
According to Bansal’s accusation, 15 to 20 men stormed into his hostel room and attacked him while claiming that he had offended religious sensitivities.
He was also forced to recite Allah-hu-Akbar while being beaten by the attackers. Throughout the attack, he as well as his family members received threats.
He was also ordered to put down his pants by the group of students, and when he refused, they continued to physically abuse him. In his complaint, Himank Bansal listed numerous of these individuals along with descriptions of each one’s participation in the attack.
In addition to Bansal’s accusation, the police have also received the video and photographic documentation of the incident.
Following his complaint, the Cyberabad Police disclosed that Shankarpally Police Station had filed a case on November 11, 2022, against the offenders in accordance with sections 307, 342, 450, 323, 506, R/W 149, IPC, and Secs. 4(I), (II), and (III) of the Prohibition of Ragging Act of 2011.
The police are taking more action in this matter. Along with Himank Bansal, the institute has taken legal proceedings against the other students engaged in the attack.
