After making an impact with Russell, Zhou Guanyu Alfa Romeo was knocked over and flung into the tire barriers.
This incident occurred when Alex Albon’s Williams was struck by Sebastian Vettel’s Aston Martin, together with Pierre Gasly & Esteban Ocon.
Russell sprinted up to Zhou following his stunning collision to see how he was doing.
Russell was expected to be back to the pitlane right away because of the red flag. But he was spotted making sure Zhou was okay instead.
Zhou was examined at the healthcare facility, but Alfa Romeo deemed him healthy and discovered no significant wounds.
After his collision, Albon was flown by chopper to the clinic.
On social media, supporters praised Russell’s deeds.
George Russell was praised on Twitter for not caring about the event. And for getting out of his house and checking on Zhou.
Another person wrote: “George Russell going to Zhou to see whether he was okay after that horrific crash,” using the applauding fingers emoji.
Russell posted on Twitter: “First and foremost, the most essential factor is that Zhou is okay whereas the suspenseful British Grand Prix is still going on.
“That would be a frightening occurrence, and the marshals and health workers deserve praise for their prompt reaction. I’m sad for the organization and the supporters, but I’m clearly uncomfortable about how the race ended. LH [Lewis Hamilton] is being praised in the workshop.”
That was the second stunning collision at Silverstone after Dennis Hauger. And Roy Nissany was involved in a catastrophic collision in Formula 2.
