At Amalie Arena in Tampa Bay, during the second period of the Oilers’ game versus the Lightning, the unsettling situation took place.
Kane slammed into Lightning defenseman Phillipe Myers. As a consequence, he slid onto the ice, due to which he accidentally exposed his wrist. Then, as Kane sprinted for the puck, Pat Maroon unintentionally skated over his arm.
Kane was caught on camera during the game’s broadcast flowing blood onto the ice right away. He was looking terrified. Later on, he fled from the field of play to his team’s locker room for assistance.
Kane had to undergo surgery immediately.
Kane was sent to a local hospital where he underwent surgery right away. On Wednesday morning, he said on Twitter that everything went smoothly and that he is currently recovering.
The 31-year-old added that he obviously had a very traumatic experience last night, and he is still a little bit stunned by that. However, he wants to thank the whole Edmonton Oilers and Tampa Bay Lightning training staff, as well as all the physicians and paramedics who raced to help treat and fix his injuries
He genuinely appreciates every one of them as he knows that things would have been a lot worse without their help. The 31-year veteran said that he will be absent for a while, but he promised to return to the arena soon.
