The 14th annual Hell in a Cell was a professional wrestling live event, organized by WWE, took place in 2022. The event was broadcast on pay-per-view (PPV) around the world and streamed live on Peacock in the United States and the WWE Network globally. It took place on June 5, 2022, at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, a Chicago suburb. The event featured seven matches. Cody Rhodes won a Hell in a Cell match against Seth “Freakin” Rollins in the main event.

WWE confirmed before the highly anticipated match that he was suffering from a partly torn right pectoral tendon. Despite his injury, Cody got into the ring, surprising fans. Cody managed to put Rollins down for the third time in a row after a legendary performance.

Cody Rhodes faced Seth “Freakin” Rollins in a Hell in a Cell battle in the main event of Hell in a Cell 2022. While Rhodes battled in the bout with a severely torn pectoral muscle, Rollins came out in polka dot themed apparel to insult Rhodes’ father, Dusty.
Early in the game, Rhodes nailed Rollins with the Disaster Kick and the Cody Cutter. When Rollins refused to let go of the bottom rope, Rhodes locked in the Figure-Four Leglock on him. With the opponent’sย damaged shoulder as the target, Rollins repeatedly threw Rhodes into the cell wall. Rollins used the steel stairs to assault the damaged shoulder.
Rollins drew a sledgehammer from beneath the ring, but Rhodes avoided being struck. On Rollins, Rhodes hit a Pedigree for a near-fall. Later, Rhodes was hit with a Cross Rhodes by Rollins, but Rhodes was able to hit his own for a near-fall. Before slamming Rollins with the sledgehammer to win the match, Rhodes hit Cross Rhodes twice in the closing moments of the fight.
