Chris Basham, a club legend at Sheffield United, has been a stalwart for the team since his arrival from Blackpool in 2014. With 393 appearances and 15 goals in all competitions, he has been a key figure for the Blades. He featured in 29 Championship matches last season, playing a pivotal role in United’s promotion-winning effort.

Basham’s absence from the squad adds to Sheffield United’s woes, as they have struggled in the Premier League, enduring seven defeats in eight league outings.

The severity of Basham’s injury became immediately apparent as he went down while attempting to cross the ball. Medical personnel rushed to the scene, and the 35-year-old was given oxygen as they provided him with urgent treatment.

The match came to a standstill for approximately 14 minutes as medics attended to Basham and prepared to transport him to the hospital. Eventually, he was stretchered off the pitch, and an ambulance was on standby to ensure he received immediate medical attention. Basham’s injury cast a dark shadow over the game, which ended with Fulham winning 3-1.

Basham’s injury compounds the challenges that Sheffield United already faced, with fellow defender John Egan sidelined due to injury as well.

Their upcoming match is set for October 21 where Sheffield United will return in action against Manchester United who are visiting as their opponents.
