The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup has seen a number of teams put on their best batting performances since the competition’s inception in 1975.

Australia’s previous mark from 2015 was surpassed by South Africa’s enormous 428 for five against Sri Lanka in its 2023 World Cup opener match in Delhi. The Proteas were the first team to score three 400-plus totals and had three batters record tons in a single World Cup inning, both of which were World Cup firsts.
