Critics are delighted by the spoof, but slightly frantic about the classic characters being linked to politicians.
The Muppet Show
If you’re in your mid-40s, chances are that you most likely remember The Muppet Show theme song from your childhood days.
For those who are too young to know the addicting song, you can find out from this hilarious and viral video circling around depicting Liz Truss.
Created and posted on Twitter by a Liz Truss critic, who is seemingly a talented video editor. The video shows Truss and members of her cabinet dancing to the opening theme of the Muppet Show.
The video mocks the Prime Minister’s recent mini-budget that sent the pound to record lows against the dollar.
Liz Truss X The Muppet Show Parody
A user named Colin McQuaid originally uploaded the video to Twitter on October 15. Since then, the video has racked up over 1.1 million views to raving reviews.
The video features all the leading players of the UK government, including Home Secretary Suella Braverman, Health Secretary Therese Coffey, and new Chancellor Jeremy Hunt.
Jeremy Hunt who just assumed office on October 14 after Kwasi Kwarteng was sacked just 38 days on the job was also not spared.
The video also features Labour leader Sir Kier Starmer and SNP Leader in the House Of Commons, Ian Blackford. The video portrayed the two politicians as The Muppet Show viewers Statler and Waldorf who complain:
It’s kind of like torture to have to watch this show.
The hilarious video concludes with a short clip from Truss’ infamous 2014 “pork market” speech. The video has easily made its way in the internet hall of fame.
Back then, Truss was the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and she told Conservative Party members:
In December, I’ll be in Beijing, opening up new pork markets
The remark was part of her comment on the UK’s food industries.
Internet Users React To The Video
Many internet users were quick to state their opinions on the video. Unsurprisingly, a large majority of the comments were all in favour of the Muppet Show characters.
A Muppet fan wrote on Twitter:
A bit harsh on The Muppets I reckon, but a fair point. I’d rather have Kermit as PM, Scooter as chancellor, Fozzie art/media, Gonzo as sports. Sam Tgle as Secretary Of State, etc. The gang’s all here!
