Mick Moloney who is a former police officer and Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner was out for a walk when he noticed that one of his dogs Hutchy had mysteriously disappeared.
Moloney’s sense of dread intensified as he gazed upon a towering 7-foot kangaroo with its arms submerged in the water. Before he could process the situation, his worst fears were confirmed when Hutchy resurfaced, gasping for air and screaming in distress.
Mick Moloney’s video
In a heart-pounding video, Mick Moloney can be seen bravely approaching the kangaroo who had a firm grip on his dog in the water. He sternly warned the marsupial to release Hutchy but the kangaroo refused to back down. With one swift punch, he sent the kangaroo staggering backward.
In a surprising turn of events, the kangaroo retaliated by striking back with its clawed paws knocking Moloney’s phone into the water. The ensuing scuffle in the dark continued but it ended with Hutchy safely on the riverbank.
Despite his background in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Moloney discovered that his training was no match for the kangaroo’s mixed marsupial arts. This seemingly invincible kangaroo demonstrated its combat skills and prowess in this life-and-death battle. Fortunately, Moloney and his loyal companion Hutchy escaped the encounter with only a few scratches.
Social media reactions
The viral video captured the imagination of the internet, sparking heated debates and discussions. While many supported Moloney’s heroic efforts, others accused him of letting his dogs chase the kangaroo into the water by arguing that the kangaroo was merely defending itself.
Some armchair wildlife experts explained that the kangaroo’s retreat to water was a survival instinct to escape dingo attacks. They can resort to drowning perceived predators, making Moloney’s intervention even more critical to saving Hutchy’s life.
With their unique combat skills and impressive size, Kangaroos can be formidable adversaries.
