The Lakers lose to Indy in a breathtaking game, 116-115
After an Andrew Nembhard buzzer-beating 3-pointer, the Lakers conceded the game in the fourth quarter, losing by one. On Monday night, the Lakers lost to the Pacers, 116-115, and now have a record of 7-12. Anthony Davis led the way in the loss with 25 points and 13 rebounds. It was a relief that both Davis and LeBron James started the game despite both players being listed as probable. James, unfortunately, rolled his ankle early in the first quarter and was forced to sit out for the remainder of the period.

For the Lakers’ benefit, LeBron came back in the second quarter and appeared to be OK. The Lakers and Pacers continued to battle for the remainder of the first. The Lakers were leading 32-29 after one-quarter thanks to Wenyen Gabriel and Thomas Bryant’s dominance on the offensive glass, and Austin Reaves’ ability to score off the bench by going to the line. The remaining portion of the first half was back and forth. In the end, Dennis Schroder’s buzzer-beating 3-pointer gave the Lakers a lead at halftime, 62-56.
Andrew Nembhard decided the game with a last-second 3-pointer.
With a score of 74-71, the Lakers went on a 20-13 run to end the third quarter. Starting the fourth, the Lakers were in control. Reaves stepped up with a 3-pointer in the fourth to reach double figures and give the Lakers a four-player double-digit scoring lineup for the game. Later, Russell Westbrook started an 8-0 run for the Lakers to begin the fourth.
Indianapolis, not to be outdone, went on their own 10-0 run to reduce the deficit to seven. The Pacers made another big run to close the gap to one basket with just over two minutes left in the game, making the Lakers’ seeming calmness into a nail-biter. A game-winning three-pointer by Andrew Nembhard at the buzzer changed the outcome and gave the Pacers the victory, which was unfortunate for the purple and gold.
