Jurgen Klopp revealed that Andrew Robertson would be undergoing a test on his ankle injury as he provided an update after he strutted away during the club’s tie

However, abject news filtered in on Sunday during Liverpool’s preseason friendly against Athletic Club. Leftback Andrew Robertson ended up leaving the clash in the first half itself as he suffered a worrisome ankle injury.

He was subsequently by Owen Beck. In visible pain as the medical team helped him off the pitch as he suffered the injury whilst blocking a cross, Robertson is a major injury concern for Liverpool at the moment.

While Jurgen Klopp didn’t provide further insights into the depth of the injury, the German spoke about Robertson going for tests on Monday. However, he did mention how Robertson had twisted his ankle, an injury which is set to keep Robertson away from atleast Liverpool’s opening couple of fixtures.

“He twisted his ankle. The pain settled already but further assessments tomorrow with a scan. Then we will know more,” Klopp said.

Liverpool were leading 1-0 at the time Andrew Robertson left the park with Diogo Jota giving the home side the lead on the night. However, the match ultimately ended with either side sharing the spoils as the visitors managed to restore parity.

Liverpool will next be taking on Osasuna on Monday night at Anfield as part of their preseason schedule. The club’s bigwigs will be looking to get their house in order this time around though with the side’s fixture against Athletic Club delayed for almost 30 minutes owing to ticketing issues.

Tsimikas is all set to deputies for Robertson against Osasuna and also slot in into the leftback role for the side’s opening encounter of the new season.
