NBA megastar Steph Curry will go down as the first to secure multiple $200 plus million contracts, after negotiating a new 2021 contract extension with the Golden State Warriors

He has signed a four-year, $215 million deal that expires in 2026.

This new pact between Stephen Curry and Golden State Warriors puts Curry at roughly $53 million a year on average, including nearly $60 million in the final year of the agreement. Though NBA rules do not allow Warriors to announce the deal until August 6, Curry’s agent Jeff Austin confirmed the deal. Read on to know more.

Golden State Warriors Accord Steph Curry With A New NBA 2020 Four-year, $215 Million Contract

The 33-year-old is coming off a 2020-21 NBA season where he led the league with a score of 32 points per game, shot 42% from three-point range. This led to him to his seventh All-Star team. The Warriors needed to address his contract since his current five-year $201 million deal expires in 2022. It was unlikely that the Warriors would’ve let Curry depart.

Now that they’ve secured Curry for the next season, it will be easy for the Warriors to protect their league-high team revenue streams, which include a $20 million per year jersey sponsorship. Forbes stated that the team brings in nearly $500 million per season and it is expected that the figure will reach closer to $700 million annually.

This value has been growing ever since the Warriors made the playoffs under Curry’s 2013 reign when he would average 28 wins per season during the first few years.

Stephen Curry’s Successful Season

With such an amazing season, it was only a matter of time before Steph Curry signed one such lucrative contract. He averaged 32.0 points, made 5.8 assists and 5.5 rebounds, shooting 42.1% from 3-point range. However, the Warriors lost in the play-in tournament to Memphis. Even though Splash Brother Klay Thompson was absent for a second straight season due to an injury, Steph followed through brilliantly.

Renowned as the greatest shooter in NBA history, Steph Curry has revolutionized the three-point shot. He is a seven-time NBA All-Star, two-time holder of NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) title and winner of three NBA championships with the Warriors.
