West Zone won their 19th title in a heated final against South Zone
The most successful team in the history of the tournament won yet another title convincingly. Ajinkya Rahane-led West Zone side had a prolific season which ended up with the title. Jaydev Undakat won the player of the series for picking 13 wickets in 3 matches. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the top run-getter of the Duleep trophy 2022.

In the finals, Jaiswal scored a blistering 265 in the 2nd innings which shifted the result in the favor of West Zone. South Zone had a mammoth target of 529 runs to chase on the 4th and 5th day of the test match. Opener Rohan Kunnumul did show an attacking approach and scored 93 off just 100 balls but his effort went vain.

20-year-old Yashasvi Jaiswal was continuously chirping something to Ravi Teja. The batsman didn’t like the unnecessary sledding by the young player and he complained about it to West Zone captain Ajinkya Rahane.

The man of the match of the Final was sent off by the captain of his team himself for his disciplinary behavior. Yashasvi was very unhappy with his captain’s decision but he obeyed it and sat out.
Yashasvi kept on slegding even after a couple of warnings by the captain which compelled Ajinkya to take the harsh step.

Jaiswal was named Man of the match in the finals for his brilliant 265 runs. Both the players shake hands with each other at the end and the matter was resolved.
