A video of a kid describing how he was trounced and routed by Ja Morant has gone viral
Last month at the FedEx Forum, NBA All-star Ja Morant made his court return as the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Houston Rockets 130-125. As soon as the only topic of conversation surrounding him was his performance on the basketball court, things began to return to normal but that has altered once more.
17-Year-Old teen reveals how Ja Morant punched and beat him in new police bodycam video footage
Ja Morant just served his punishment and returned to the court, but it seems as though he may be in for more difficulties. The Memphis Grizzlies star has had a crazy year. A gun was allegedly pointed at the Indiana Pacers team bus, a shoe salesman was allegedly threatened, a kid at a high school was allegedly confronted, and a teen was allegedly punched in the head before being brutally beaten.
The final charge is quite serious, and we now have video of the 17-year-old boy telling police exactly what happened. The boy describes what occurred in the incident in the bodycam video that is shown below.
Watch the video below.
The teen and Ja were allegedly getting into it while forcefully checking the ball with one another before getting in each other’s faces, according to the account he gave to police. The 17-year-old responded, “Hit me then,” when Morant questioned his group if he should strike the adolescent at that point. And that’s exactly what Morant did before jumping the child and beating him for “20 seconds” with his friends.
You can see the police discussing the event later in the video. Some of them appeared to be in a state of shock. According to a Washington Post report, the incident was somewhat “unchecked” because of slack police work that resulted in no charges being brought and the investigation being “quietly shelved.”
For “conduct detrimental to the league,” the NBA punished Morant for eight games without pay last month. The punishment came after an incident in which Morant was captured on Instagram Live brandishing a gun outside a Colorado bar. The five games Morant had already missed since the incident was also included in the suspension.
It remains to be seen if anything will change as a result of the release of this bodycam video. But it wouldn’t surprise us in the least if the NBA opted to look into this situation and penalise the 23-year-old all-star further.
