Wang Xiyu’s Family and Education
Wang Xiyu was born to her father, Wang Peng, who is a former head coach of the Shenzhen tennis team and the Chinese women’s national team. Her father resigned from the latter to concentrate on his daughter’s professional tennis career while her mother was a former player in the Zhejiang women’s basketball team. Wang’s educational qualification is not known yet.

Wang made her ITF Women’s Circuit debut in 2016 at the event in Anning as a wildcard player. Apart from the loss in her one of the first matches, the following week she reached the semifinal at the $10K event in the same city. In October of year 2017, Xiyu made her WTA main-draw debut at the Tianjin Open, held in 2017 where she also recorded her first win over Danka Kovinic.
Wang reached her the singles ranking of world No. 103 on 9th May in 2022 with her currently ranked 75 in the world. She made her top 100 debuts a month later on 13 June 2022 after reaching her first WTA 125 final at the BBVA Open International de Valencia 2022. She made her professional debut at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships where she lost in the first round to Jule Niemeier.
At the 2022 Grand Prix held at Budapest, she defeated Barbora Krejcikova in the first round and overcame Ana Bogdan in the longest straight sets match of the year in 2 hours and 45 minutes. In the second round, she moved to the quarterfinals. As an outcome, she hit a new career-high of No. 93 on the 18th of July 2022.
On August 31st Wang defeated M Sakkari to enter the 3rd round of the US Open tennis tournament held in New York.
