Chelsea beat arch rivals Manchester City 1-0 recently to lift their second UEFA Champions League Title in 10 years, courtesy to Kai Havertz’s goal in the 42 minute.

Vinay Menon in Chelsea: Who is Vinay Menon?

The spoken about presence is of Malayali named Vinay Menon, who has been a wellness consultant with Chelsea since 2009. He has become the first ever Indian to lay his hands on the UEFA Champions League trophy.

Vinay Menon is the grandson of an experienced Yoga Guru from Kerala who completed a physical education degree from Calicut University before moving on to achieving big things abroad.

He worked in Himalayans and Dubai, before getting an offer to become the personal health consultant for Russian business tycoon Roman Abramovich.

Eventually Roman Abramovich appointed Vinay as the club’s wellness consultant and has been with the boys fro Stamford Bridge since 2009, working with several high-profile stars like Didier Drogba and John Terry.

Vinay Menon’s Contribution in Chelsea

Interestingly, this is not the first time Vinay has lifted or lay-ed hands on the Champions League trophy. Even in the 2012 triumph for the Blue, Vinay was an associate with of the club.

Even Menon was into sports and hailing form Kerala, he represented the state in Judo. And before joining the blues, he was never associated with football what so ever.

Having said that, it remains a proud moment for the country that a medical professional like Vinay Menon has been associated with Chelsea and has become the first ever man to lay his hands twice of the prestigious European Silverware.

The fact that Menon is not a footballer and yet has been in the buzz on all social media platforms after being noticed as the first countryman to lift the CL glory is super ironic.
