Spa-Francorchamps was seen fraught with piles of garbage as the Belgian Grand Prix was stricken with prolonged bursts of rain
While the fans present at the Belgian Grand Prix had every right to be livid after being robbed of a race, a bit better was expected from them when it came to cleanliness. In the aftermath of the race being called off on Sunday owing to incessant rain leaving the Spa-Francorchamps circuit drenched, the track was seen strewn with garbage.

Videos which have emanated from the concourses show gargantuan piles of trash littered all over the venue. They make for appalling visuals, ones which have seen many hit out at the callousness displayed by the spectators who had turned out.

However, many have also come out in support of the fans. Not only were they made to endure lashes of rain as the race was postponed for a lengthy period but received a scanty two laps for their grueling pain with the race being called off after the minimum laps needed to classify the event as a rain.
Even those two laps were held with a safety car behind as Max Verstappen managed to hang onto first place. The top 10 ended up taking home half the points as opposed to the the traditional points on offer with Lewis Hamilton seeing his lead at the top being slashed to just three points.
Lewis Hamilton has gone onto lash out at the race officials since, calling the race a farce and demanding the fans to be refunded their ticket prices. However, F1 has gone onto strenuously deny Hamilton’s claims with the bigwigs sticking by their decision to keep all the earnings with them.
