In the ongoing Duleep Trophy, things went really Ugly as the West Zone bowler Chintan Gaja threw the ball on Venkatesh Iyer in frustration

Duleep Trophy: Venkatesh Iyer gets hit on his Head

In the game between West Zone and Central Zone Venkatesh Iyer was hit on the Head by Gaja in frustration. Chintan is a right arm medium pace bowler from Gujrat who plays for West Zone in Duleep Trophy.

On Gaja’s ball, Venkatesh smashed a six by coming down the track which is not a pleasant sight for any fast bowler. The bowler got angry and bowled a quick good length delivery to Iyer who defended it nicely back past the bowler. Gaja who was frustrated with the fact he was hit for a six in the previous delivery threw the ball back on Venkatesh Iyer. The ball struck right on the unprotected area of Vekatesh’s head.

Venkatesh was rushed to the medical facility as Ambulance was called inside the ground

The 28-year-old All rounder was left in pain and fell right on the pitch straight away. He looked in some serious pain and the Ambulance had to come inside the ground. Venkatesh was retired hurt and after medical assistance, he was back in the field. Though Venkatesh couldn’t do much as he was sent back to the pavilion by Tanush Kotian on 14 runs.

Head injuries are taken very seriously since the death of Philip Hughes. The ambulance in SNR College ground was ready for any kind of mishappening during the game. Luckily the injury wasn’t severe and Venkatesh was back in the field after some medical assistance.

After Day 3 West Zone is leading the Semi-final match with a healthy lead on thier hand

The Rahane-led West Zone side is taking the control of the game with both and the ball. They are looking for the favorites for playing the finals on 21 September in Coimbatore.

After the first innings, they were having a lead of 129 runs on a challenging wicket of SNR College ground. The West Zone side will look to extend thier lead on Day 4 and then hope that the cracks make it difficult for Central Zone.
