When does the 2023 US Open take place?

Beginning on Monday, August 28, and concluding on Sunday, September 10, the 143rd US Open will take place. On September 9, the women’s final will be held, and on September 10, the men’s final will follow.

Players must win three matches to secure a spot in the main draw, and qualifying will run from August 22 through Friday, August 25.

Where will the 2023 US Open take place?

The tournament will be held in the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Billie Jean King National Tennis Centre in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, Queens, New York City, for the 45th time this year.

The game will be played on 15 of the 22 outdoor DecoTurf hardcourts at the eye-catching facility. The showcourts courts are Court 17 and the Grandstand, and Arthur Ashe and Louis Armstrong Stadiums both have retractable roofs.

There are 23,771 seats in Arthur Ashe, 14,053 in Louis Armstrong, 8,125 in the Grandstand, and 2,800 on Court 17, making it the largest tennis stadium in the world.

Who will miss the 2023 US Open?

Rafael Nadal and Nick Kyrgios are the two prominent athletes who are missing from the men’s bracket. Kyrgios is dealing with a wrist issue, while Nadal is still recovering from hip surgery.

Denis Shapovalov, Reilly Opelka, Marin Cilic, and Pablo Carreo Busta won’t play at Flushing Meadows either.

But Novak Djokovic will be there, as this will be his first US Open appearance since the 2021 title match. The year before, he was unable to attend the event because US immigration regulations prohibit foreigners without the required vaccines from entering the country.

Despite the fact that the 2021 women’s champion Emma Raducanu is presently recovering from wrist surgery, considering her rating, it is likely that she would still have needed a wildcard. The remaining top players are expected to be in the women’s draw, though.

US Open 2023 seedings

On the men’s side, Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic are currently tied for the top seed, but Alcaraz would have kept  the top spot in the ATP Rankings if he won and made it to the Cincinnati Open trophy.

The rest of the Top 10 are:

Daniil Medvedev, Holger Rune, Casper Ruud, Jannik Sinner, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev, Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe. Tiafoe, though, could still be bumped down by Alexander Zverev.
