United Football League (UFL) 2024 players salary and coaches pay structure details
The coaching assistants who were fortunate enough to be hired again by the UFL after being laid off in 2023 have agreed to new contracts that start on January 1 and end on July 1. They were offered till the start of the next year to consent to new league rules and a pay cut.

Wade Phillips took over in San Antonio when Hines Ward eventually passed away on a comeback to the league as a result of the deadline. Regretfully, Hines Ward’s choice had an impact on his assistants as well because they were just a few days away from returning to work after months of unemployment benefits.
When Ward was idle for the UFL 2024 season, head coaches like Wade Phillips—who has a multi-year contract with the XFL—would have received compensation. Rather, Wade is back in the saddle and bringing over assistants from the 2023 Roughnecks as a result of Ward’s decision.
Salary of coaches and players
As new contracts are signed ahead of the first season, the UFL is implementing a seasonal pay structure for its coaches. In 2023, all XFL head coaches were compensated in the six-figure bracket annually and were given multi-year contracts. The new league will gradually phase out that practice. The three remaining head coaches in the conference of former XFL clubs, Wade Phillips, Reggie Barlow, and Bob Stoops, all consented to the future compensation drop to protect their assistants.
The USFL paid its players $53,000 in salary last season as per the terms of their union agreement. Without win bonuses, the normal player in the XFL made an average of $50,000 during the regular season. But some didn’t follow the norm. Prominent veteran quarterbacks in the six-figure bracket, such as A.J. McCarron and league MVP Jordan Ta’amu, were compensated significantly more than the typical XFL player.
It looks like all quarterbacks in the UFL will receive conventional player salaries unless 2024 is an exception. Because of this, it’s still unclear when XFL MVP Jordan Ta’amu will return. Coming off his best season as a pro, Ta’amu would have to accept a significant pay cut if he chose to return unless an accommodation was made. Some players may decide to rejoin or return to the UFL as a result of the player pay cap, although this is unlikely given that the newly combined league is the only major spring game in town.
