UFC Vegas 76: full fight card winner and results
In the main event of UFC Vegas 76, Sean Strickland took a big risk by fighting an unranked opponent, but he eventually produced his first stoppage win in almost three years by defeating Abusupiyan Magomedov through a second-round TKO. Magomedov used a range of blows, including some vicious leg kicks that repeatedly hit in the opening round with a sickening thud, while Strickland stayed behind his trademark jab. But as Magomedov began to tire, Strickland patiently waited it out and returned with a bang in the second-round.
Strickland persisted in his pursuit of Magomedov until the Russian was ultimately hit by a combination that caused him to fall to the ground. At 4:20 in the second round, referee Mark Smith stopped the bout because of a flurry of blows that followed and the fact that it was obvious Magomedov was basically ducking under the bombardment with little chance of getting to his feet.
