Following the win, Jones, aged 35, jumped up nine places to secure the top spot, overtaking the likes of Kamaru Usman, Israel Adesanya and Brit Leon Edwards.
Jones tears up the UFC Men’s P4P rankings
Jon Jones has spent most of his career at or near the top of the pound-for-pound rankings list. His recent rise to the top looks like he could re-establish his dominance in the sport.
Aside from Jones, reigning P4P king Alexander Volkanovski went down to second place. Volkanovski won the Featherweight Championship against Max Holloway and successfully defended it four times between 2020-2022. Despite eventually losing out to Islam Makhachev, he managed to stay above Makhachev who is placed in third.
Leon Edwards remains above Usman and Adesanya
The P4P rankings list features several other big names like Usman and Adesanya, the tow powerhouses. Both fighters are ranked fifth and sixth respectively after recent losses prevented them from going up higher.
Leon Edwards ended Usman’s incredible 19-fight winning streak last August. The Birmingham-based fighter landed an amazing head kick leading to a KO over former welterweight champion and maintaining his fourth rank above the Nigerian. Meanwhile, Alex Pereira, Aljamain Sterling, Charles Oliveira and Brandon Moreno make up the rest of the ten fighters.
Conor McGregor omitted from UFC Men’s P4P rankings list
Aside from the top ten, Dustin Poirier ranks 12 after his win against Michael Chandler in a at UFC 281. Despite losing prior to that, his back-to-back wins over Conor McGregor saw him rise in the rankings.
Meanwhile, The Notorious, is unsurprisingly omitted from the pound-for-pound rankings. McGregor has been out of the game ever since August 2021 after breaking his leg during a defeat to Poirier. He has since been making a recovery and could return to face Chandler this year.
