For a long time, fans had been anticipating that Tyson Fury would go on to fight Anthony Joshua in an all-British showdown. This was till a court of arbitration let them down and pitted Fury against Deontay Wilder for a third fight. Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn was clearly not so happy and has come forward with some interesting information. Read on to know more.

A fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua would have been a blockbuster with the two best heavyweights of this generation go attempting to unify the world heavyweight titles. Even the date and location of their bout had seemingly been agreed on when the authorities digressed and settled with a third unwanted Fury-Wilder bout.

Promoters have anyway been having a hard time igniting interest for this bout and now Eddie Hearn has come forward with some interesting information to add fuel to fire. On the DAZN Boxing Show, Hearn questioned the amount of tickets they have managed to sell for the event. According to him, the match has no hype and is going to do “very, very poor pay-per-view numbers.” Following is his full take on the issue.

“There was no broadcaster in the UK announced. They never announced the fight. They sold no tickets. I don’t know whether it was 25% or 30% of the tickets have been sold, but that’s disastrous.”

Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder 3 Postponed And Given New Date

According to ESPN, there was a COVID outbreak in Tyson Fury’s camp, earlier this month. This put his Heavyweight Championship fight with Deontay Wilder in jeopardy which was initially scheduled to take place on 24th July. Fury has now officially tested positive and the match has been postponed. He had rejected his second COVID jab shortly before he contracted the virus last week.

Hopes are that the fight will be rescheduled to take place on October 9 so that it remains at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada. As for Anthony Joshua, he will square off against Oleksandr Usyk on September 25 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
