Chelsea are all set to indulge in the services of Alfonso Pedraza to bolster their leftback spot and add numbers to Ben Chilwell
Roman Abramovich and his insatiable hunger to win everything at stake in football has seen him forage a stalwart Chelsea side. In his over 15 years in charge of the club, the Russian has gone onto make the club based out of London one of the most successful sides in England.
And despite having won everything there is to get your hands around, Roman isn’t done yet. Each year he returns with the same thirst and drive, pouring millions to give Chelsea the best resources to bolster their ranks.
If Abramovich needed any excuse to continue his unabated support even during the Covid pandemic, he was given one by Thomas Tuchel. With the German reposing the faith Abramovich had earmarked in him by winning the Champions League, Roman has decided to loosen his pockets and rope in stellar names ahead of the 2021-22 season.
Chelsea Transfer News 2021-22: Chelsea Set To Move In For Alfonso Pedraza
While the bruhaha surrounding the club is about Erling Haaland and Federico Chiesa, one transfer which is said to be all but done is that of leftback Alfonso Pedraza. With both Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri set to depart the club later in the window, the club is set to move for the Villareal defender.
While the club is yet to find suitable suitors for both Alonso and Emerson, the side is said to have already outlined Alfonso as the replacement. And with Villareal eager to sell and Pedraza open to the switch as well, it’s a transfer which should be completed before the new season commences.
What has won Chelsea over when it comes to Pedraza is his ability to canter down the park. While he won’t replace Ben Chilwell, he’s a more than adequate backup option as he showed in the bygone edition of the La Liga.
EXCLU: Chelsea interest in Alfonso Pedraza is serious. They will look to sign him later this summer, if and when both Alonso and Emerson are gone. Villareal open to selling and player happy to move for big wage bump.
