A TikTok video had gone viral of a man, one where Luang Pho Yai is claimed to be 163 years old
The wonderful world of social media platforms and fake news has once again moved in unison to peddle another bit of bemusing news.
No Luang Pho Yai, Man In Viral TikTok Video Is Not 163 Years Old
Over the last couple of days, a video has been doing the rounds on TikTok, one which claimed a monk named Luang Pho Yai was the oldest man on the Earth. The viral video went onto talk about how Luang was performing sokushinbutsu, which is a period of time in which self-mummification is conducted and was aged 163 years old.
And as is the case in such kind of videos which need little time to set the internet alight, people started devouring the news and believing in it without any kind of credibility to the report. However, the man shown in the video isn’t 163 years as initially claimed by TikTok user @auyary13 who uploaded the video and claimed to be the person’s daughter.
The person shown in the video has been identified as 109 year old Luang Pho Yai. In January 2022, he was brought to Dan Khun Thot Hospital in Thailand with a fractured hip. He has since made a steadfast recovery and is able to eat and walk on his own.
