We’re all in the same boat
Rocking back and forth trying to stay afloat
Although we may sway up or down
We can’t be afraid that we may drown
Yet say perchance we fall into the tides
And fear that there is no longer a chance to rise
Panic may only pull us in deeper
Into the waters that are black and weepers
You may be surprised how a single yelp!
May keep you alive and bring you help
For when the people see you inable to float
They will remember that you were in the same boat
You will be tossed many ladders back up
But be careful about which one you trust
For one is made of brittle twine
And most of them will help you back up just fine
And when you get back on the boat
You may take some time to clear your throat
You must feel the pattern of the waves
Moving the boat and making it sway
Gather the courage to get back on your feet
But this time with a better feat
You walk up to the steer and take control
But the compass needle faces two different poles
You take the decision to follow your heart
Although it’s choices may not always be smart
It speaks from within and with such a voice
So powerful and loud you have no choice
So off you go in search of land
Where you hope to lay on the beach in sand
Then you remember how you were able to stand
Thanks to all those helping hands
You look back at the deck of your boat
And see all your comrades smiling with hope
For when you all reach the land
You will be smiling and together you will stand
Although it’s not quite clear to me
The distance between the land and sea
But one thing that I know for sure
Is we will reach the land intact or tore
And even when you reach the shore
You may be thinking what could I have more
Then when you look around, you smile with glee
As you see that the true treasure was the rocky journey
And as we all laugh and happily gloat
We will always remember that we are in the same boat
