Three Reasons Why WWE NXT’s Adam Cole Is Likely To Sign An AEW Contract Once He Becomes A Free Agent End Of August

It has been reported that Adam Cole will become a free agent after Summerslam 2021 as his WWE contract expires at the end of August. Know why he could move to AEW

Rumors had it that Adam Cole’s contract was to expire in 2024. But, according to recent reports by Wrestling Inc. it is expiring this month after SummerSlam. The contract had actually ended after the Great American Bash on July 6, but Cole decided to extend it through Summerslam. The longest reigning NXT champion of all-time has a lot of options in front of him and here are 3 reasons why AEW could be the next stop for Adam Cole.

Is AEW On The Cards For WWE NXT Star Adam Cole After His Contract Ends

Following Wrestling Inc’s report, Fightful Select explained why people in WWE got to know about Cole’s contract being expired at such a short notice. Cole was apparently willing to work through SummerSlam before re-evaluating things. He was probably thinking about finishing his feud with Kyle O’ Reilly at TakeOver 36, making his last contracted appearance. The event takes place the night after SummerSlam at Capitol Wrestling Center on August 22.

As of what’s next for Adam Cole; the answer to this question is pretty much the same for every superstar WWE has been losing in the past few months – AEW. This is not even a shot in the dark because for Cole, making this move actually makes a lot of sense. Firstly, his real-life partner Britt Baker is the AEW Women’s Champion. Secondly, Cole has old friends at the promotion, having made history with the current roster in Ring of Honor, PWG and beyond.

Lastly, if he wanted to re-sign with WWE, it’s likely he would have done so by now rather than extending his contract for a short-term deal. The company has been exercising budget cuts over the last four month and as a result, have released a lot of superstars including Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman. Moreover, so many former WWE superstars have now moved to All Elite Wrestling that the promotion is now a strong competitor for Vince’s company.
