With Mick Schumacher deciding to overtake Nikita Mazepin on Saturday at Zandvoort to take P19 in qualifying, the worst kept secret in F1 was finally out in the open.
For a long time, rumours had been brewing in the land of Formula 1 of things being far from steady between the two Haas drivers. Both were said to be irked by each other’s presence, a narrative which came to the fore as Mazepin went livid after Mick overtook him.
While the race stewards didn’t hand out a penalty to either with Sebastian Vettel’s backing of the pair clearing it, Mazepin refused to stop his tirade against his adversary. He went onto lash out at Schumacher, talking about how he wouldn’t tolerate such shenanigans as long as he was in F1.

Mazepin also levied blame at his team with talking about how Haas had refused to address his beleaguerment on the team radio. The Russian talked about the team’s need to clampdown on Mick and come out with a blanket rule to evade any further akin situations developing.
Team boss Guenther Steiner also opened up on the issue at hand with him admitting that things were going to take time to resolve.
“This does not appear that way with experienced drivers. We have to work on it and raise the fight to an acceptable level.
“There is no magical solution. The dissatisfaction comes from the fact that we are only fighting against each other at the end of the field,” he said as he spoke about how a lack of experience was resulting in the two rookies squabbling with each other.
