Ranked 42nd globally, Karunakaran and Variath emerged victorious by score of 21-17, 21-16 against the Thai duo of Tanakorn Meechai and Fungfa Korpthammakit. In their second-round tie, the Indian pair will face-off against the Indonesian second-seeds Rinov Rivaldy and Pitha Haningtyas Mentari.

Meiraba Luwang Maisnam secured his position in the main draw of the men’s singles through a hard-fought victory against compatriot Shashwat Dalal, followed by a convincing win over Malaysia’s Kok Jing Hong. Meanwhile, Sankar Muthusamy Subramanian and Kartikey Gulshan Kumar faced early exits in the qualifying rounds, while Ayush Shetty and Ravi concluded their campaigns in the second round.
