In the men’s singles quarterfinals of the Thailand Masters on Friday, Indian shuttler Sai Praneeth lost valiantly to China’s world number 23 Li Shi Feng. India’s campaign in Bangkok came to an end as Praneeth squandered a sizable 15-10 lead in the first game, before falling 17-21, 23-21, & 18-21.

After a fiercely contested match, sixth-seeded Li Shifeng defeated Indian sensation B Sai Praneeth on Friday by scores of 21-17, 21-23, and 21-18. Having won the second set to force a decider, Praneeth finally lost as Shifeng won the decider 21-18 to win the match and qualify for the semi-final. Following his win, Shifeng has qualified for the semi-final stage and is scheduled to play against fourth-seed Ng Ka Long with a place in Sunday’s summit-clash at stake.

It is known that both of the semi-final matches will be played on Saturday and the other semi-final will feature in-form Chinese shuttler Shi Yuqi against Lin Chun-yi. This match will be eagerly watched by fans around the world as the winner of this match will qualify for Sunday’s championship match.

2023 Thailand Masters: BWF points award system

According to the BWF Points System, the winner of the 2023 Thailand Masters will receive 7,000 BWF points as compared to the runner-up, who would receive 5,950 points. Following his unlucky quarterfinal exit, Sai Praneeth’s tournament journey came to an abrupt stop, and as a result, he will only be taking 3,850 BWF points.
