At the player auction conducted in Mumbai, the eight franchises put their best foot forward by putting together competitive squads that are strong and full of international quality in front of the fourth Tennis Premier League (TPL) season.

The headline player for season four of the Tennis Premier League, Matthew Ebden, who won the 2022 Wimbledon Men’s Doubles title, was the most expensive accession at the Auction. The Australian who won the Grand Slam was scooped up by Delhi Binny’s Brigade for 8.45 lakh despite fierce competition from other franchises for his signature.

Delhi also purchased Sowjanya Bavisetti, an Indian tennis player who won two gold and one silver medal in team and individual competitions at the 13th South Asian Games, for the sum of 3.50 lakh and she joined Ebden in Delhi. In addition, they paid 1.50 lakh rupees to add Siddanth Banthia, a former No. 1 player for India in the Juniors, to their squad.

Conny Perrin, a Swiss player who has won 23 doubles titles and 13 singles titles on the ITF Women’s circuit was signed by the defending champion Finecab Hyderabad Strikers for the sum of 4.10 lakh.

Sriram Balaji, who has won 50 doubles titles on the ITF Pro circuit, was quickly purchased by them for the sum of 6.05 lakh.

Niki Poonacha, a two-time National Tennis Champion who cost the Strikers 2.60 lakh, was the last player they acquired at the auction.

Mumbai Leon Army, which is co-owned by Leander Paes, was successful at the auction because they quickly snatched up the players they had set their sights on before it began. Currently ranked No. 1 in men’s singles and No. 2 in men’s doubles in India, Ramkumar Ramanathan was signed by the Mumbai Leon Army for the sum of 6.70 lakh rupees.

For 2.60 lakh, Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan, who won the men’s doubles at the Aircel Chennai Open back in 2017, joined Leander Paes’ Mumbai Leon Army, increasing their number of Indian players.

After signing Ukrainian Valeriya Strakhova, who has won 12 ITF Women’s Championships in her career, for the sum of 4.45 lakh rupees, their lineup was complete.
