The Tennis Premier League, India’s top tennis competition, is scheduled to resume in December 2022. Along with the participation of players in wheelchairs and the endorsement of a famous person, each team will have an Indian player ranked in the top 10 in every category.

This year marks the fourth season of the Tennis Premier League (TPL), which will start on December 7 and end on December 11.

The competition will be held at the Balewadi Stadium in Pune.

Teams

For the coveted trophy, eight teams will compete and they are: the Bengaluru Spartans, Chennai Stallions, Delhi Binny’s Brigade, Finecab Hyderabad Strikers, Gujarat Panthers, Mumbai Leon Army, and Pune Jaguars. There will shortly be one franchise revealed.

Players

In addition to tennis legends Leander Paes, Sania Mirza, and Goran Ivanisevic, this year’s edition will feature actresses Aditi Rao Hydari, Sonali Bendre, Divya Khosla Kumar, and Vishal Bhardwaj.

Format

For the purpose of advancing to the semifinal, each of the eight teams will play four games. Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Mixed Doubles, and Men’s Doubles will all count toward the total number of games in each match, which is 4. The fixtures will have eight games, each of which will be worth 20 points, or 80 points total. A total of 320 points (80 points multiplied by 4 matches) will be played by each team during the league stage. For the semi-finals, the top 4 teams in the points standings will advance. Each game in a match can only include two players.

Tennis Premier League (TPL) 2022 Prize Money

The TPL has developed into a stronger league and will offer Rs 1.2 crore in total to the players this season, with the money being distributed evenly from the top players to the juniors. In 2018, when it first began as a league for Maharashtra, it did not pay any money to the players.

Many players will be chosen through Talent Day competitions in a few cities, which will award Rs 50,000 to the chosen men and women; Rs 30,000 to the chosen under-18 players; and Rs 20,000 to the chosen under-14 players in each city.
