Tennis Calendar New Season: ATP Cup 2022
Russia will face a tough initial test, according to the 2022 ATP Cup event programme, which was unveiled in Australia.
The defending champion, led by World No. 2 Daniil Medvedev, will open the tournament on January 2 against Austria, who is led by former World No. 3 Dominic Thiem. Medvedev and Thiem are expected to face off in the No. 1 singles match, with Thiem leading the ATP Head2Head series 3-2. In Oliver Marach and Philipp Oswald, Austria features a veteran doubles duo.
Serbia, which won the ATP Cup in 2020, will face Norway on the first night of the tournament (1 January). Novak Djokovic, the world No. 1, and Norwegian star Casper Ruud recently clashed at the Nitto ATP Finals, and they’ll face off again at No. 1 singles inside Ken Rosewall Arena.
