On 4th September, the women’s rapid & blitz event culminated at the 2023 Tata Steel Chess India. As per the schedule, the open category rapid & blitz competition will begin from 5th September and feature Indian youngsters like Praggnanandhaa and Gukesh alongside French superstar Maxime Vachier-Lagrave.

2023 Tata Steel Chess India Tournament women’s rapid & blitz tournament results, winners, & final standings
Despite losing her penultimate rapid game and allowing Ju Wenjun to catch-up with one round left, Indian teenager Divya Deshmukh played at her very best to defeat Indian ace Koneru Humpy in the final rapid game. After Ju failed to win her last rapid game, Divya was crowned as the 2023 Tata Steel Chess India women’s rapid category champion with 7/9 Points. Meanwhile, Wenjun finished in second-place with 6.5 points and Shuvalova finished third with 5.5 points.
In the blitz event, Koneru Humpy competed fiercely for the title but her loss against Ushenina in the penultimate game proved costly for her. With a last round victory over Anna Ushenina, Chinese star Wenjun captured the blitz title. Unfortunately, Divya failed to continue her stellar run in the blitz and finished in fourth-place with 10.5 Points.
The event has become of part of the high profile eight-leg USD 1.75 million Grand Chess Tour (GCT).
This leg offers a prize purse of USD 150,000.
