The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021 has wrapped up with Tamil Nadu emerging victorious once again as they defeated Karnataka in the final to retain title, know the winners list

Masood Shahrukh Khan sealed the deal by hitting a melodramatic six on the last ball of the game to clench the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy by 4 wickets against a cast down Karnataka side. The final took place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Monday, November 22nd.

SMAT 2021 Tamil Nadu vs Karnataka Winner

Even though Tamil Nadu was under pressure as they needed 16 runs off one over, Khan remained calm and composed as ever, hitting Prateek Jain for a six over deep-square leg and coming out as his team’s saviour. The 26-year old remained not out till the end of the match (15 balls, 1 four, 3 sixes) along with his teammate R Sai Kishore who was also 6 not out (3 balls, 1 four).

With this win, Tamil Nadu has earned the title of the most successful team as they have won the tournament a total of three times. Shahrukh Khan’s heroic style along with his calm and composed behavior is something worth lauding as he played an incredible innings in the final in New Delhi.

As for the Karnataka side, the batsmen performed to the best of their abilities with Abhinav Manohar (46, 37 balls, 4 fours, two sixes), Praveen Dubey (33, 25 balls, 3 fours, 1 six) and J Suchith (18, 7 balls, 1 four, 1 six) displaying some destructive batting skills.
