Tamil Nadu won the last year’s championship
BCCI will be introducing "Impact Player" concept in the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, which allows a tactical replacement during the match.
This is similar to X-factor in BBL and the Super Sub rule used in ODIs between 2005-06.

Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are two of the strongest teams in the tournament who played the finals last year in Delhi. Tamil won the nail-biting final as Shahrukh khan smashed a last-ball six to get his team over the line. Sai Kishore and Shahrukh Khan were the stars of the tournament for the title winners Tamil Nadu. It will be interesting to see how these 2 teams will come up against each other in the 2022 season.
Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022: Prize Money
The winners of the tournament will be felicitated with a 10 lakh rupees cheque. The runner-up of the tournament will also be awarded with 5 lakh rupees cheque.
The player match fee is 75,000 INR.

Player Match Fee: Rs.75,000
Winner: Rs.10 lakh
Second Place: Rs.5 lakh

The new rule of ‘Impact Player’ will also be used in this year’s SMAT
BCCI is going to experiment with the ‘Impact Player’ concept for the first time in competitive cricket. The officials of BCCI will be having a close watch on the tournament as they are thinking of implying the rule in IPL 2023 too.
The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023 will begin on 11th October and end on the 5th of November.
