Viktor Axelsen from Denmark is the defending champion in Men’s Singles category of BWF Swiss Open Badminton after having won the 2021 edition. However, he announced his withdrawal from the tournament before his second-round match against P Kashyap.

Kidambi Srikanth, survived a strong challenge from France’s Christo Popov to reach the BWF Swiss Open 2022 quarterfinals in Basel on Thursday.

Srikanth, rated No. 12 in the world, defeated Popov, ranked 60th, in a second-round match that lasted an hour and 13 minutes. The seventh-seeded Indian will meet Dane Anders Antonsen, the second-seeded player.

Out of eight quarterfinalists in the men’s singles category of BWF Swiss Open 2022, four shuttlers represent India. Hence, the tournament will be a memorable one for Indian badminton fans.
