Former swimming champion Jamie Cail was found dead by her boyfriend in the early hours of February 21, know her cause of death

Authorities in the US Virgin Islands are looking into her death. Cail, who was 42, was found dead on the floor of the home she and her partner shared.

Reports say that Cail’s boyfriend left a bar to check on her and found her sleeping. He took her to the Myrah Keating-Smith Clinic with the help of a friend. There, Jamie Cail got CPR, but in the end, she died from her illness. At 2:39 am, the clinic reported a “dead on arrival” case to the police in the Virgin Islands.

On Monday, the U.S. Virgin Islands Police Department said the hospital staff at the Myrah Keating-Smith Clinic indicated that 42-year-old Jamie Cail was in cardiac arrest when she was brought to the medical facility by her boyfriend.

Cail, 42, was found unresponsive by her boyfriend in the St John home they shared at 12.08am on 21 February. Cail was pronounced dead at the hospital after “succumbing to an ailment,” officials said but they did not elaborate.

The Criminal Investigation Bureau is now looking into the case. Jamie Cail grew up in Claremont, New Hampshire, and started swimming when she was a teen. In the 1990s, she won the teen swimming championship and then went to Brazil with the US national B team to compete in the FINA World Cup.

Cail was a freestyle swimmer with great career ahead

Jamie Cail got a silver medal at the competition for swimming the 800m freestyle. After she moved to Huntington Beach, California, she started training at the Golden West Swim Club. There, she won a number of high school state titles. At the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in 1997, Cail won a gold medal.

Jamie Cail also swam for the University of Maine women’s team in the early 2000s. According to her friends, Cail was a friendly, popular person who worked at a local coffee shop and was loved by everyone in the area.

What did her friend have to say?

“She was a very beautiful person,” one friend told local TV station WMUR. Jamie Cail was really loving and kind and well-loved and popular on the island and everybody knows her. Everyone from you know, older generational, local families to the younger people, everybody loved her.”
