In order to qualify for the women’s indoor volleyball semifinals at the 2023 Southeast Asian Games, the Philippines defeated Singapore 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-13), with Alyssa Valdez leading the offence. It was only natural that Valdez, who during these Games made her comeback to the national team after sustaining a right knee injury in December 2022, netted the winning point to secure their semi-final berth against the defending champions Thailand.

Thailand defeated Malaysia 3-0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-15) to earn the top spot in group A, and Indonesia qualified for the semi-final with a straight-set victory against Myanmar (25-9, 25-9, 25-15). Following these results, it is confirmed that the winner of Group-B Vietnam will face-off against Myanmar with a berth in the championship match at stake.
