Stevenson ensured a $3 million purse for himself in the process. However, sources claim that because he didn’t make weight, he was forced to hand up $150,000 from his wallet to Robson Conceiço. Additionally, the commission levied a $20,000 fine against him. It is safe to infer that after numerous deductions, the former Undisputed Super-Featherweight Champion was left with around $2,820,000.

Shakur Stevenson vs Robson Conceicao Match Events & How it Unfolded?

A career-high 199 blows were landed by Stevenson, including a body shot knockdown in the fourth round. Conceiço was stunned in the sixth round, but the Brazilian opponent fought valiantly. Referee David Fields took away a point from Stevenson for hip tossing Conceiço in the ninth round. Stevenson finished the show in pound-for-pound fashion after an unlucky ninth round, winning the final three rounds on all three judges’ scores.

Stevenson’s performance inside the ring was unaffected by his earlier weight miss as he dominated from the opening bell, taking down Conceicao and used his superior boxing abilities to overpower Conceicao for a resounding unanimous decision victory with scores of 118-108, 117-109, and 117-109. Beyond Conceicao’s roughhousing, which resulted in Stevenson’s hip throw in the ninth round being penalised a point by the referee, Stevenson dominated the action, including the only knockdown at the conclusion of the fourth round when a thudding body shot drove Conceicao to the mat.

Shakur Stevenson vs Robson Conceicao Post-match Reactions & Next Fight for Stevenson

It was Shakur Stevenson’s final match in the Super-Featherweight class, and as was previously said, he delivered a dominant performance. Shakur Stevenson believes that losing weight to 130 pounds is not healthy for his body and is considering moving up to the Lightweight division. Devin Haney, the undisputed champion, stands at the top of the 135-pound heap, ahead of greats like Vasiliy Lomachenko, Isaac Cruz, Gervonta Davis, and George Kambosos.

The 25-year-old was complimented for his performance after his victory. However, there were concerns voiced about the refereeing of the fight as the referee appeared to ignore several of the low strikes delivered by Stevenson.
