Former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi, who is constantly under the radar for his constant controversial comments on Kashmir, apparently had a terrorist cousin called Shaquib
Shahid Afridiโs outrageous comments about the Kashmir issue stem from a personal history involving his cousin Shaquibโs death and his Afridi tribesmen who invaded the valley back in 1947.

His cousin Harbhajan Singh & Yuvraj Singh whose brave father Yograj Singh gave a wonderful speech from Kisan Morcha Manch against Hindu women has a similar psyche as that of Shahid Afridi https://t.co/m3j7s7i05t

Shahid Afridi’s cousin, Shaquib, was a terrorist killed in Kashmir. Shaquib was a battalion commander of Harkat-ul-Ansar, which later became LeT.
Shahid Afridi had alleged several years back that
innocents (were) being shot down by oppressive regime (in Kashmir) to clamp voice of self-determination and independence.
In March 2016, when the Pakistan cricket team arrived in India to play the T20 World Cup, Shahid Afridi referred to Kashmir, saying, “A lot of people, a lot of people are here from Kashmir as well (to support him).” It quickly became a controversial comment.
Why is Afridi always so personal about the Kashmir issue and who was his cousin Shaquib?
Shahid Afridi’s constant comments on the Kashmir issue stem from his family’s connection with militancy in the Valley.ย Indian security forces killed Shahidโs cousin Shaquib killed after shooting him to death in 2003 during an encounter in Anantnag.
Shaquib, who was identified as Shahid Afridi’s first cousin, was killed in an encounter with the BSF on September 7, 2003. Following the encounter, the BSF had described Shaquib as a battalion commander of the Harkat-ul-Ansar, later known as Lashkar-e-Taiba.
According to the BSF, Shaquibโs documents proved his connection with Shahid Afridi’s family. Shaquib, who is a native of Peshawar, had been operating in the Anantnag area for about a year and a half before security froces killed him
Shahid Afridi, who was then a regular in Pakistan’s national cricket team, denied having any knowledge about his terrorist cousin. He had stated in the newspapers that, “Pathan families are very large and I have literally lost track of the many cousins I have”.
The Other Reason Why Shahid Is Connected With The Kashmir Issue
Shahid has another prime connection with the Kashmir issue dating back to Indiaโs partition. After the British left India in August 1947, Jammu and Kashmir a princely state back then, decided to stay independent.
New Delhi, back then, was still wavering over India’s claim to Kashmir. At that moment, Pakistan sent Afridi tribesmen to occupy Kashmir with the intent of annexing it. The Afridis, along with mercenaries from the Wazir, Mahsud, Turi, Mohmand, and Malakand Yusufzai tribes, invaded Kashmir.
A Pakistan Army officer named Major General Akbar Khan led the coalition. The Afridis had apparently been lured to attack Kashmir for “wealth and women”, coming in truckloads. They seemed to be more interested in raping women and looting properties.
The then King of Jammu and Kashmir, Hari Singh, found himself unable to fight back on his own. As such,ย he was forced to sign the accession treaty with India to save Kashmir. Only after the accession was signed, India send its troops to push back the tribal invaders and the Pakistani soldiers. The Pakistani tribesmen, having accumulated enormous property, had to haul all the loot to Peshawar.
