The 16th stop of the 2022 BWF World Tour is the Japan Open, which has been a part of the Japan Open championships since 1977. This competition, which has BWF accreditation, is organized by the Nippon Badminton Association.

The Maruzen Intec Arena in Osaka will host the 2022 Japan Open, which is a prestigious badminton competition with a $750,000 prize pool and will run from August 30 to September 4. Indian men’s doubles duo of D Kapila & MR Arjun will be looking to continue their superb form and produce some magic in Japan Open.

August 30: First-round matches will begin (Starting 6:30 AM IST)

1st September: Second-round matches will begin

September 2: Quarter-finals begin

3rd September: Semi-finals begin

September 4: Finals begin

2022 Japan Open Badminton Doubles Category First Round Draw, Fixtures, Players List

Choi Sol-gyu and Kim Won-ho are MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila’s first-round opponents in the Men’s Doubles at 2022 Japan Open. In the same bracket, the French Popov brothers will be the first-round opponent of  Krishnaprasad Garaga & Vishnuvardhan Goud Panjala.

Ashwini Bhat & Shikha Gautam will face Lee Yu-rim & Baek Ha-na in the opening round of the women’s doubles competition. While Jongkolphan Kititharakul & Rawinda Prajongjai will square off against Treesa Jolly & Gyatri Gopichand in the opening round.

In the mixed doubles, top seed and reigning world champion Zheng Siwei & Huang Yaqiong will take on Venkat Gaurav Prasad & Juhi Dewangan in the first round, who are the only pair representing India in the Mixed doubles.

Points Award System

The BWF point distribution system was used to determine how points were awarded during the BWF World Tour Super 750 competition. As per the regulations, the winning partnership in the doubles competition will receive 11,000 BWF points, while the runner-up duo will receive 2,660 points. Athletes hoping to climb the BWF World Rankings will undoubtedly be motivated by the large number of points up for grabs.

Prize Money Pool Distribution

The entire prize pool for the 2022 Japan Open will be $750,000 when the awards are given out in compliance with BWF regulations. From Japan Open, doubles competition winner will get $55,500 in prize money from this pool.

When And Where to Watch: Live Stream And Telecast Taipei Open Badminton

The Japan Open 2022 will be broadcast on BWF TV, the organization’s official YouTube channel, starting on August 30 in India. Supporters in India will, however, be able to watch the action live on Voot Select starting on September 2.
