In a recent case, a seven years old kid unknowingly spent £1,300 (1.33 lakh) on a game with his dad forced to sell his family card in order to pay the iPhone Apple game bill

A seven-year-old kid spent £1,300 in the United Kingdom while playing his favorite game. The kid unknowingly purchased some in-game items which costed a bill of more than 1 lakhs to his father. Kid’s father who is Muhammad Murtaza from Colwyn Bay, North Wales initially believed that he got scammed and it was not possible to spend this much amount of money on a game.

Later on, to pay the bill Murtaza was forced to sell his Toyota Aygo car in order to pay the iPhone game bill.

iPhone Apple Game Bill: How Did The Kid Spend More Than Rs.1 Lakh in Just 1 Hour?

Murtaza said to the media that he never allowed his kids to play a game that is not free of cost. Furthermore, the kid was playing a game named Dragons: Rise of Berk. In the game, the players are allowed to customize and make their own version of the fictional Isle of Berk from the films and it is based on How to Train Your Dragon movie. However, the game is free of cost, but there are some in-game items that can be purchased.

Murtaza said that his kid made purchases because he had fear of losing his character. Additionally, there were more than 29 transactions made from £1.99 to £99.99. He was also unaware of the fact that the game has in-game purchase items that cost up to £99.99.

Muhammad Murtaza was a customer of Apple devices since 2005. He also filed a complaint against Apple and got a refund of £207. Additionally, he believes that the game tricked his son and forced him to spend that money on the game.

Later on, Apple came up with a reply and said that parents can control the transaction of their kids. It has an Ask to Buy option for children under the age of 13. Parents can actually link their accounts and devices in order to accept or decline the transactions of their kids.
