Dietrich Mateschitz, co-founder and owner of Red Bull, died at the age of 78. While creating the energy drink empire, the Austrian was instrumental in convincing the firm to enter Formula One by purchasing not one, but two teamsโRed Bull Racing and AlphaTauri.

When he competes in the upcoming Mexican Grand Prix, Sebastian Vettel will pay tribute to the late Red Bull founder Dietrich Mateschitz by wearing one of his vintage helmet designs. He will revert to a vintage style that was influenced by Red Bull beverage cans and is quite reminiscent of what he used at the beginning of his racing career. The bulk of Vettel’s helmets throughout his tenure with Red Bull, which supported him during his junior career and drove him to all four of his world championship victories, had the quartered blue-and-silver colour scheme as its basic design.
Vettel’s F1 career was significantly influenced by Dietrich Mateschitz
Mateschitz, a co-founder of Red Bull, was in charge of ensuring the company’s involvement in motorsports and its whole athletic portfolio, which directly impacted Vettel’s career. Given that his relationship with Red Bull began in such a way, Sebastian Vettel’s choice of a unique Red Bull helmet as a tribute to Dietrich Mateschitz seems fitting.
Vettel began wearing a Red Bull-liveried helmet in 1998 while still competing in karting, and he had the company’s logo on his helmet up until his 2015 switch to Ferrari. Red Bull increased their support as the extent of Vettel’s skill became more apparent. In the German Formula BMW in 2003, he made his racing debut in a vehicle driven by Eifelland Racing and painted in the Red Bull logo.
