Who Was Satyendra Nath Bose?

Satyendra Nath Bose was a famous Indian scientist and mathematician who specialized in theoretical physics. He was a Fellow of the Royal Society and received the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian honour, from the Government of India in 1954.

He was born in Calcutta (now Kolkata) on January 1 to a Bengali Kayastha household. His father’s name is Surendranath Bose who was a railways employee. He has 5 sisters.

He married Ushabati Bose and they had a total of nine children, two of whom died in infancy.

His Educational Life

He started his schooling at the age of 5. He was later accepted into the New Indian School after his family relocated to Goabagan. He was accepted into the Hindu School in his senior year of high school. In 1909, he passed his matriculation exams and placed sixth on the ranking list.

He then enrolled in an intermediate science programme at Calcutta’s Presidency College. In 1913, he graduated from Presidency College with a Bachelor of Science in combined mathematics.

He then went to Sir Ashutosh Mukherjee’s newly established Science College, where he got the Masters of Science combined mathematics in 1915 with the highest marks in the whole of Calcutta.

In 1916, Bose began his studies in the theory of relativity at the Science College of Calcutta University, where he had completed his MSc.

Career Of Satyendra Nath Bose

Bose served as a lecturer in the physics department of the University of Calcutta from 1916 to 1921, inspired by physicist Jagadish Chandra Bose and historian Prafulla Chandra Ray.

He also published a study in 1924 that deduced Planck’s quantum radiation rule without using conventional physics.

He was a polymath, with interests in physics, mathematics, chemistry, biology, mineralogy, philosophy, arts, literature, and music, among others. In sovereign India, he sat on several research and development bodies.

Why Did Google Make A Doodle For Him?

On the 98th anniversary of Bose presenting his quantum formulations to German physicist Albert Einstein, who recognized it as a fundamental discovery in quantum mechanics, Google honoured him with a Google Doodle on June 4, 2022.

Death Cause Of Satyendra Nath Bose

According to the reports, he died after suffering from Pneumonia on 4 February 1974 in Calcutta. At that time, he was 80 years old.
