Sanjay Manjrekar was all set to take a dig on Ravindra Jadeja yet again as India lost to England by 8 wickets this week during the World Test Championship Final
It hasn’t been long since the former Indian cricketer-turned-commentator Sanjay Manjrekar last came into news due to a spat with Ravindra Jadeja. Not long ago, he had disapproved the Indian all-rounder and called him a bits-and-pieces cricketer. Now that the Men in Blue lost to the Kiwis in the 2021 WTC Final last weekend, Manjrekar is back at taking a dig on Jadeja.
He weighed Jadeja’s selection and opined that having him on the team was a gamble. India took it and it didn’t pay off.
What Sanjay Manjrekar Had To Say On Ravindra Jadeja After The WTC Final 2021
India had failed to put up a decent score during the WTC Final. Jadeja picked up only a single wicket in the match and scored 15 and 16 in the two innings. Jadeja’s batting form has been on the upswing for the last three years. Thus, Sanjay Manjrekar found it surprising that he was included in the batting order, let alone the team. Moreover, he disapproved of this decision especially when India already had assistance from the fast bowlers and it had started pouring during the match.
“They picked one player for his batting, which was Jadeja, and his left-arm spin wasn’t the reason he was picked. He was picked for his batting and that is something that I am always against,” said Manjrekar for ESPNCricinfo. According it would’ve made sense, had they picked Jadeja for his left-arm spin along with Ravichandran Ashwin. “But they picked him for his batting and I think that backfired as mostly it does,” he added.
This isn’t the first time though that Manjrekar has decided to indulge in a brawl with Jadeja. The commentator had lashed out at Indian cricketer during the ODI 2019 World Cup as well with Jadeja hammering Manjrekar as things turned sour between the two.
While Jadeja is yet to revert to Manjrekar’s comments, a string of people have already hit out at Manjrekar for his outlandish comments.
