‘Jadeja Doesn’t Know English,’ Sanjay Manjrekar Says On Twitter DMs Leaked After Spat With Ravichandran Ashwin

Ravindra Jadeja and Sanjay Manjrekar’s 2019 cold war received a new spark on Twitter after a user shared some controversial screenshots of his conversation with Manjrekar ensuing his scuffle with Ashwin

In the screenshots that Twitter user Soorya Narayan shared, Manjrekar can be seen saying that Jadeja didn’t even understand what he said. “Sad state you are in. Expecting me to worship players like you do… by the way I am not a fan. I am an analyst. And Jadeja doesn’t know English so he did not know the actual meaning of bits and pieces. And surely somebody spelt verbal diarrhoea for him.”

So far, Manjrekar has not commented upon the following leaked conversations. He has neither denied nor confirmed their authenticity.

This spate between the Indian all-rounder and former Indian cricketer-turned-commentator goes back to the 2019 World Cup. After India had lost to England by 31 runs in Birmingham, batting coach Sanjay Bangar had said that Ravindra Jadeja would play against Bangladesh. Manjrekar had disapproved of this and called Jadeja a ‘bits and pieces’ cricketer. Jadeja, displeased, had replied to the criticism on Twitter.

He said that the former cricketer had ‘verbal diarrhoea.’ He later made a statement when he scored a half-century against New Zealand in the semi-finals. In a recent interview, he revealed that he was searching for the commentary box to direct his half-century celebrations towards.

Two years after this spate, Manjrekar would go on to criticize another all-rounder from the Indian cricket team – Ravichandran Ashwin.

Recently, in an interview with ESPNCricinfo, Manjrekar didn’t quite agree with people when they called Ashwin an all-time great. He reasoned through Ashwin’s record in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia) countries. The former Indian cricketer pointed out that Ashwin does not have a five-wicket haul in SENA countries. That appreciation should be kept aside for Don Bradman, Garfield Sobers, Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and others, according to him.

Ashwin Replies To Sanjay Manjrekar

Ashwin, on the other hand, responded with a hilarious meme from a Tamil movie Anniyan. The translation of the meme is ‘Don’t say that Chari(movie character) my heart aches.’

Manjrekar kept the banter going with his retort. “Also Chaari, my heart aches to see simple, straightforward, cricketing assessments kick up a fuss these days,” he replied.
